Nicole Connor, fifth grade teacher at Yeager Elementary School, was named a Science Model Teacher for Elementary in late April.

May 8, 2026—CFISD recently announced three new Model Teachers for Elementary Science. Kathy Williams, second grade teacher at Lowery Elementary School, Nicole Connor, fifth grade teacher at Yeager Elementary School and Kasey Negron, fifth grade teacher at Bane Elementary School, were all selected to take part in the program.

All three teachers will now have the chance to share their practices with fellow educators in the district.

Ayesha Kayani, CFISD’s elementary science coordinator, said the district specifically looked for teachers who were both willing to grow and take risks and impact students and adults through their passion for science.

Kathy Williams, second grade teacher at Lowery Elementary School, was named both a Math and Science Model Teacher for Elementary in late April.

All three teachers met those standards and also stood out in their own ways. Negron created challenging investigations that allowed her students to discover science themselves, Williams provided the support needed for all students to be successful learners and Connor allowed students to both take ownership of their own learning while also working with and guiding their fellow students.

In order to be selected, teachers had to apply for the program, receive references from their principals and have multiple classroom observations throughout the process.

Kasey Negron, fifth grade teacher at Bane Elementary School, was one of three new Science Model Teachers for Elementary named by CFISD in late April.
